Beauty bits new to my collection which I think are AWESOME: Makeup & nails

It's been a while since I have blogged, and especially about beauty. Since starting at my new job, I have been lucky enough to hear about lots of new beauty launches, and sometimes try them out. I've also been separately picking up & buying a few bits this year to add to my collection which I have been lusting after for a while, so thought I would bring back beauty to my blog by chatting about some new bits to my collection that I've been trying & that I think are AWESOME.

Starting with the face, Too Faced's Born this way foundation is an oil-free, heavy-duty base which I like very nearly as much as Makeup Forever's HD offering. If you're after something a little (or a lot) lighter, go for Chantecaille's Just Skin Tinted Moisturiser, which gives a 'your skin but better' effect, and is perfect for taking on your summer holidays. A new release from Benefit has also really caught my attention, which is a BB cream for your eyes. Despite not being a necessity (only pick it up if you fancy trying something a bit different), this is pretty handy for preparing your eyes for makeup in the morning without having to awkwardly apply foundation to your browbone/eyelids. The product I'm talking about? Benefit's AirPatrol priming BB eye cream, which is out in September.

Moving on to blushers and bronzers, I have really been enjoying using Stila's new Aqua glow watercolour blush in Shimmering Lotus. Lily Pebbles has declared her love for this liquid blush, which is an entirely different formula to any other cream blush I have tried before. It's not a cream, or a gel, but has a watery and runny texture which sort of blends into skin and dries when applied. This colour is super pretty as it has gold shimmer particles in its otherwise pink base... really lovely. Bronzer wise, I've been giving Tom Ford's Bronzing Powder in Gold Dust (this is the mini version) a go. It's the ultimate in luxury, and the packaging is to die for. The product isn't half bad either!! For paler skinned ladies like myself, Aerin's Bronze illuminating powder is absolutely gorgeous. It's a very pale-toned bronzer, which can also be used as a blusher and has a highlighting effect too.

For eyes, two mascaras have been capturing my attention. Too Faced's Better than sex mascara, despite having a slightly ambitious name (am i right...?!) is rather lovely on the 'ol lashes. It gives length and volume, but isn't too clumpy. Benefit's They're Real can often come off on lashes as slightly clumpy, but their new brighter shades are also just too good to resist. The electrifying blue shade is incredible, and with some blue eyeliner makes brown eyes especially look top notch. If you're looking for a new eyeshadow, give Burberry's new formulas a try... they are SUPERB. Their new Eye Colour creams (I have the gold copper shade) are a cream/powder hybrid and are, in my opinion, truly unique in texture and super smooth to apply.

Finally, there have been lots of beautiful lip and nail options I've been enjoying too. First, Laura Mercier's Lip Parfait Creamy Colourbalms (out later this month) are great, and come in a super pretty range on shades. They're excellently nourishing on the lips, and my favourite colour by far has to be the Juicy Papaya, which is the perfect bright orangey/red summer hue. I've also been trying By Terry Baume de Rose, which is, without a doubt, the nicest lip balm I have ever used. I was really suffering with super dry lips and was using a Sisley balm which was actually making the situation worse. But this By Terry balm smells like sweets and is really lovely & nourishing. For nails, I've been loving Deborah Lippmann's limited edition Rose gold shade Earth Angel, which is a Harrods exclusive. It's soooo pretty, and has gold speckles which add a special sparkle to your tips. My lovely colleague Alice also introduced me to the amazing NailBerry polishes, which are free of nasties and come in the most amazing colours. A bunch of us in the office were totally fan-girling over this Mystere shade, which is a lovely lilac/grey.

For more detailed reviews of the products, please ask in the comments and I will elaborate!

PS. On a slightly different note, I recently interviewed the hilarious Paul Rudd for his new movie Ant-Man, check it out here:

The Top 13 of 2013

In the spirit of New Year honesty, I will admit to you that I seriously considered a 2013 beauty favourites post and maybe, just maybe a video. I decided that setting up a Youtube account might be more of a 2014 aim however, so settled for a slightly more restrained version in the form of my Top 13 beauty products of 2013 (catchy ey?). The 13 include makeup, skincare, haircare, nails and body; and let me just tell you that whittling it down was not an easy task. But here they are: the staples, special editions and standouts of the year, according to yours truly...

Urban Decay Naked Palette 3: Despite being given to me just 6 days ago at Christmas, Urban Decay's newest cult offering has already wowed me more than the other two versions combined...it's definitely love. Warmer, pink based and encased in an even better tin, what's not to lust after?

Chanel Chance eau fraiche perfume: 2013 was the year of the scent search for me, and this Chanel classic became my one and only. I'm already on to my second bottle and I predict this will be the first repurchases of many...

Oribe Maximista Thickening Spray: Oribe was a brand that seemed to blow every beauty blogger away this year, including me. As a member of the limp and flat hair klan, this product has been a saviour in a bottle, and it doesn't smell half bad either (full review here).

Chanel le volume de chanel mascara: As well as a scent, I do believe Chanel has officially made my most beloved mascara to date. The volume and length of lashes after one use of this is unrivalled in my opinion, and I will definitely be repurchasing like crazy this year.

Ren Clarifying Clay Cleanser: This spot saw a toss up of my nightly cleanser (Emma Hardie's amazing face balm) and this beauty, which I use in the mornings. The thing I love about this the most is how brilliant it is for oily and problem skin. It also lasts FOREVER. I bought this in June, use it every day, and it's STILL going.

Laura Mercier Almond Coconut Milk Scrub: I always feel it's so hard to find the perfect scrub. Lots I've tried are far too gritty and almost hurt to use, but this is so gentle on skin but also really gets to work (and smells good enough to eat).

Mac Creme Cup and Show Orchid Lipsticks: I know this is sort of cheating but I couldn't choose just one. Creme cup is my go to everyday shade whilst I only bring out Show orchid for those extra special 'show' stopper occasions.

Lush Snow Fairy Shower Gel: Smells like sweeties, is full of glitter and has the cutest name, need I say more? As it only comes out once a year around Christmas I made sure to pick up and extra big bottle this time round. Lush...NEVER discontinue this!

Essie After School Boy Blazer: Super Shiny Navy Blue/Black shade. I am praying this bottle will last forever as it was a limited edition buy.

Origins GinZing moisturiser: I have just repurchased my second little tub of this stuff, because I truly have found no moisturiser like it. It has such a light gel-like texture which is perfect for my skin slightly oil prone skin.

Philip Kingsley Elasticizer: Three words: SAVED. MY. HAIR...(and still does).

Estee Lauder Cheek Gelee in Tease: Another limited edition product which I have grown seriously attached too. Tease is a gorgeous pinky blush/highlighter hybrid which gives a light winter flush or full-on party glow depending how you want to wear it.

Diorskin Nude BB Creme: This single handedly changed my opinion about BB cremes. I was so anti-them and had had such terrible experiences with until I started using this. It gives a light weightless coverage and perfect glow.

So there we have it: my top 13 of 2013.

As cheesy as it sounds, I just also want to take a second in this post to thank anyone and everyone who has supported my little blog since I started it back in March: any readers or followers, the lovely fellow bloggers I have met throughout the process, any brands that have reached out to me and offered me the opportunity to attend their events or collaborate with them, and to my friends and family for helping to promote my blog any way they can, helping with photographs and all in all just being awesome.

On a lighter note, I would love to hear which products you would include in your top 13 in the comments below!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The Mini Review: Laura Mercier Almond Coconut Trio

The Space NK sale purchase; it's inevitable. And since I had been lusting after (pretty much anything from) the Laura Mercier Body & Bath collection, this purchase was even more inevitable. At HALF PRICE, my bank account (and reason) stood no chance. It was a smart purchase though I believe, as I do LOVE the set. The smell is completely divine; like marshmallows and vanilla as well as almond and coconut milk (but still very subtle), the body souffle is luxurious and rich, body wash moisturising and foamy and the scrub effective but not too harsh or grainy. Now, unfortunately I believe this set and others have sold rather quickly, but the Space NK sale is still definitely worth a browse, and you can do so here

Have you guys tried anything from Laura Mercier body & bath? Have you bought anything in the Space NK sale?
