The return of the one-piece swimsuit

Let me use this post to spread an all-important message: I hereby declare that one-pieces (of the swimwear variety) are BACK. What authority do I have to make this wide-sweeping statement? Well, how about the babes at Batoko sent me some effing awesome pieces and I decided this must mean the comeback of the swimsuit. 
Aside from making a statement on a beach full of boring bikini-clad women, a one-piece allows you to cover those areas you're perhaps not so ok with. Unless you're a Victoria's Secret model or a gym freak,  showing off your entire stomach in the summertime can come to be somewhat of an ordeal. I say avoid that altogether and throw on a one-piece. 
SO, we've established that swimsuits are no longer just for children under the age of 12, but what are the rules for donning them? Here are a few of mine:
1. All words that incinuate the one-piece is only fit for the elderly are BANNED: Swimming Costume and all its derivatives (including the dreaded 'cossie'-bleugh) should especially be shunned. 
2. Make it bold: Avoid ditsy floral prints which again, may add to the popular notion that one-pieces are  just for your nan. Bold colours and fun prints are definitely favourable. 
3. Add a little boob: If you prefer to stick to a more classic suit (see the beaut black ASOS eg above) make sure you go for a plunging neckline, or at least one that shows off a little bit of boob. If, like me, you have the cleavage of an 11 year old boy, still follow this rule, but accept that you will have to spend much of your time on the beach pushing them up or squeezing them together. 
4. Cut it out: Another way of adding a little sass to your suit is by picking up a cut-out version, such as the River Island tropical delight above. This one's seriously great if you're not yet ready to fully embrace the onesie, as it's practically a bikini from the back. 
So all that's left to do now is book your holiday and throw out your two-pieces. Long live the swimsuit!

If there's one thing I can't ever get enough of, it's a wee bit of shoe art (I did try to combine the words to come up with a nifty one worded combination of the two, but upon looking up the word 'Shart' on Urban Dictionary I realised it wasn't quite right). These ASOS beauties are literally what a shoe addict's dreams are made of. Upon seeing them online, I was totally in adoration of them, but convinced myself they were too outwardly ridiculous to actually purchase. 4 days later and the strain of staying away from them was just too much and I caved. They are utterly bonkers but that's what I love about them. The hot pink hue and cute little heal (not to mention the elastic pom poms) just made for the most irresistible footwear. When I got them out of the box they just made me smile :)
Aside from receiving my weekly shoe art, the past 7 days have been pretty chaotic but glorious. I have been interning for The Debrief, and can honestly say that so far it has been one of my all-time favourite placements I have undertaken. The team is young and so friendly, and the site is full of hilarious and refreshingly open articles which 20-somethings actually really want to read and know about. During the week I have assisted on a shoot, got to go to two press events- one a beauty launch and the other where I got to meet Rita Ora- and the press conference for the new Cinderella movie. I have also had a couple of pieces published, which you can read here and here. It has been a great chance to get more experience and to meet some lovely people, both in the office and at the aforementioned events. It's also pretty damn handy that the office is located right near one of the only Crosstown doughnut stands in the city...coincidence? I think not.

I am so crazy in love with these peep toe boots (or 'booties' as my all time idol Leandra Medine would have me say). I could not believe my luck when I saw them in the sale for FIFTEEN POUNDS (down from £75) in UO in Nottingham. How could I say no at that price? I have since worn them out in Nottingham with a check print dress where I admittedly looked like I was attending an 11 year old's birthday party, but I kinda liked it (see my instagram for the full outfit!). Their grey cousins are up on the UO website and linked above, which I feel are equally as cute, despite being a little pricier at £25. I also picked up this slip-esque skirt whilst in Urban, and have styled it here with my favourite oversized extra fluffy knit I picked up from a pricey brand in HOF which was having a sale. With the boots and a belt to finish off the look, I feel this outfit is a perfect combination of pretty and tough. 

In other news, I am pleased to unveil my new blog design. I have been working with the wonderful Jen at Magic Feather Designs for a few weeks now to get what I wanted, and am really pleased with the results. If you are considering a re-design, get in contact with Jen (via her website) as I could not recommend her enough. Secondly, it's also worth mentioning that last week I received my results for my degree, in which I have been awarded a 2:1! I am so relieved and over the moon to find out I have got the mark I have so desperately been working towards; such a lovely feeling. I will talk more about uni life and my experiences in a graduation post which will go up next month. Lastly, I thought I would mention that I am going to live in Amsterdam for a few weeks from this coming Thursday as I am interning out there. I will be staying at my Dad's beautiful apartment on the canal, and can't wait to get to work as well as go and hang out at some of my favourite spots in my spare time: Vondel Park, Foam museum, the Nine streets and that breakfast place down the street that I always forget the name for. How much does my resting bitch face syndrome come across in these photos? I literally forgot how to smile. So big apologies for that!! Also sorry if these photos are a little dull, I will forever be useless at editing! White is everywhere right now, and personally, the best way I have seen it worn is through 'white on white' layering. So I dug out an old sheer white shirt from the back of my closet, and paired it with my new ripped Leighs from Topshop, and these gorgeously ugly slider/mule hybrids from River Island. Am I the only one who feels like RI are having a moment right now? Everything online is totally gorgeous. It was never one of those shops that I ever felt catered to my taste/style, but recently they have been so on point! I have also been pretty religious in my wear of these jeans recently. They are sooo comfy and include my go-to jean feature: the ripped knee. Only problem with wearing all white...SPILLAGES. I am so messy when I eat/drink, so basically I need to wear a bib when wearing so much white...tragic. Hope you are all well.

Hi guys! Long time, no blog! (and when I say that I really mean it- my last post was in April!!) I have been monumentally busy with the end of uni, but as of now I am finished which is a nice feeling. I am definitely going to be putting in more of an effort with my blog over the summer though. This will include lots more style & beauty posts, as well as a re-design in the next month. 

Since handing in my last piece of uni work, I have been shopping, partying (lots), sleeping (also lots), working with Impact magazine some more, preparing for my work in Amsterdam and travels in August, as well as beginning to think about plans & work for when I come back in September. I have also been on the hunt for outfits for my 22nd birthday (yes I'm a Grandma) and my graduation next month (I will keep you posted on these!)

As I haven't blogged in so long, there are so many things I have been naughtily buying which I want to show you guys, including this beautiful Topshop skirt, which I bought back in March (ish). I remember it sold out almost instantly each time it appeared online, but I was lucky enough to see my size one day and just pounced on it. I've paired it with a simple River Island crop top with the loveliest neckline known to womankind ( there are lots of colours on their website!), and the highest heels I own. I plan on wearing a version of this outfit to my friend's wedding next month, but perhaps with a pair of shoes I can actually walk in!
