The LFW outfit

Hi guys! I thought I would share with you what I wore to fashion week today. If you follow me on Instagram you will have already been bombarded with pictures from my day and probably be well aware of what I chose to wear! But in case you didn't, here are a couple of snaps which show my outfit for the day. Even though I left my job at Topshop over 2 years ago, I am still a loyalist so most of my outfit (t-shirt, boots, fluffy cardigan) is from there, and of course the beautiful pastel pink PVC skirt is also a Topshop number. I paired this all with a Zara statement necklace & office city bag. As mentioned earlier, I have put lots of pictures on my Instagram page (beautyandtheb) so you can see what I got up to throughout the day, the finer details of my ouftit, and some of the amazing people I met and saw (including Jourdan Dunn, Ashley Madekwe, Tanya Burr and the lovely Lily Pebbles). I hope you all had a wonderful time at fashion week if you went this year!

The Mac Lipstick Collection

If there's one thing I love beauty wise, it's a good lipstick. I have around 50 lipsticks (ridiculous, I know) which I have collected over the years, but my favourites have to be my Mac shades. Moisturising, pigmented, long lasting and with a colour/finish range that seems never-ending, Mac lipsticks are the crème de la crème. I have wanted to do this post for ages but it took quite a while to put together all the swatches and photos etc. I have 10 Mac lipsticks which some may think is a lot, and others may think it's not many at all. I also just want to quickly point out that I am not in any way trying to show off about how many lipsticks I own or which ones I have etc, I just thought it would be a fun post and besides, every blogger loves a good Mac post! Enjoy..!

Ruby Woo (matte): The cult classic & the perfect matte red. Looks gorgeous dressed up or worn casually to take attention away from tired eyes (always a plus).

Creme d'Nude (cremesheen): A gorgeous sheeny nude which is perfect with dark eyes and bronzed skin.

Show Orchid (Amplified): Possibly my favourite lipstick colour EVER. It is so unique and striking, despite it being very difficult to get hold of. Show Orchid is a blue toned pink which is (I would say) for dressing up only! Full review here.

Strength (Frost): A panic buy & a mistake buy. I bought this colour at the airport when I wanted a new lipstick for holiday and thought it was really unique. It's a bit of an odd browny shade and the frost finish definitely isn't one of my favourites.

Creme Cup (cremesheen): My favourite daytime lipstick. The cremesheen formula is my favourite as it is the most moisturising, and the colour is such a gorgeous light pinky/nude which I find suits me.

Lady Danger (matte): My first ever Mac Lipstick. It is an orangey bright red; brighter than Ruby Woo but not quite as bright as Morange.

Asian Flower (sheen supreme): I was a little surprised that I chose this colour as I wouldn't usually consider it, but I have so much love for a pastel purple lip, and this has such a gorgeous shiny finish and perfect pigmentation.

Girl about Town (Amplified): A less glitzy version of Show Orchid. I don't like it as much but it is still super pretty, bright and fun.

Myth (Satin): This is a less moisturising and slightly lighter version of Creme d'nude and is a pale nude which can look slightly unnatural. It can look great with a really dark smokey eye though.

Rebel (Satin): I did a full review of Rebel (see here) in which I proclaim my love for it. It is a really unique berry take on a gothic style lip and lasts impressively.

Do you have any of these lipsticks? What's your favourite Mac shade?

The August Favourites

Since I began blogging and doing my monthly favourites at the end of each month, I have really started to notice how quickly the year goes by. This month has gone especially quickly, and has left me with little time to try lots of new things. I have however been loving some American style lip products: NYX lip gloss in beige and Maybelline Baby Lips in pink punch. Both are surprisingly pigmented for lipgloss/balm products. Makeup wise I have also loved the new Rimmel Scandel eyes shadow paint in rich russet; a gorgeous bronzey taupe cream shadow which is super easy to apply and long lasting. My nails have been sporting Models Own Sterling Silver, which almost creates the metal finish I am looking for. For hair, the VO5 give me texture powder has been continuously reached for, as it adds a bit of volume to my usually 'flat as a pancake' locks. Skincare wise nothing has really been revolutionary for me this month, apart from the Hydraluron serum I had heard so much about, which really does live up to its name for hydrating skin. Last but not least is my beloved Equatorial Dreams body scrub from &other stories. You just can't beat & other stories' body bits, I am so in love with their Punk Bouquet range but when I tried this scrub it was love at first sniff; so fresh and like a day at the seaside.

Skortin' (take two)

Studded Shirt: Zara
Grey Vest: Topshop Boutique
Black Skort: Zara
Hawaiian Wedges: H&M

Hey guys :) So I am still not bored of the Zara skort. I think they are so versatile and I will probably continue to wear them throughout autumn and winter with thick tights and some chunky knits. Take a look at my first white skort ensemble HERE.  I also have to point out that these photos were taken before I went on holiday back in June which is why I look like Casper the ghost.

The White Nail

My instagram white nail collage!!

If you follow me on Instagram you may already be aware of my nail colour obsession of the past few months. There is something so, just...cool about the white nail trend. It is so crisp and clean and polished. In the past few months I keep going back to a classic white nail polish whenever I'm in-between colours. I'd like to think it's become my signature colour! My go to polish is Revlon's White on White which I bought years ago for a solid white block shade. For a more sheer white nail I go for Essie's Ballet Slippers. If you're feeling in a bit of a nail polish rut lately, give the 'white hot' trend a go!

The Haircare Edit

What do I use on my hair? What are some of my top picks? Read on... (and trust me, this list is NOT exhaustive, I am a hair product FANATIC!)

My hair is honestly nothing to write home about. After years of dyeing and applying heat to it, the condition has never been great, but I believe I am now using the best products for my hair for it to reach its optimum condition and appearance. I have tried and tested a hell of a lot of shampoos and conditioners throughout my 21 human years, and unfortunately, along with the likes of skincare, this is an area where you have to spend a little more to get results. My go to shampoo/conditioner duos are both pretty pricey, but work like an absolute dream. Along with the Philip Kingsley elasticizer which I use every other wash for a deep condition, I always now turn to the Bumble and Bumble Surf duo and Living Proof's restore partnership. Both leave me with hydrated, glossy locks which result in me needing much less styling.

However, sadly, I am not one of those lucky girls who can saunter out of my shower and do nothing to achieve gorgeous, glossy, smooth waves (I'm looking at you Kate from Lost...are we actually expected to believe she had perfect glossy hair CONSTANTLY whilst shipwrecked on a deserted island for months without once even appearing to pick up a hairbrush?). Rant over, my point is, my hair DOES WHAT IT WANTS usually, so styling products are necessary.

THEREFORE, after a good wash with the afore mentioned, I will whack on some Moroccanoil (the queen of hair oils) and either dry my hair or let it dry naturally for less heat exposure. When it's dry, I spritz on some of the Lee Stafford heat protection spray (it smells amazing...and it's PINK) and work in some Bumble and Bumble de-frizz serum. Next, I style my hair by creating waves with my ghds in layers, and when I'm done I will either use a curl spray like Toni & Guy's sea salt spray or Bumble and Bumble's surf spray, or some texturising spray like the V05 one with some of their root powder. Last, I finish with a shine spray, like the Charles Worthington Shine Booster. As you can see, I think it is  much easier to spend less on styling products and still get results.
